Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dietrich on the Podium in Mesquite

Irvine, Calif. (February 19, 2008)
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ricky Dietrich earned his first podium of the season with a third-place finish at the second round of the WORCS series in Mesquite, Nev. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green rider Taylor Robert took his second-straight win in the Pro 2 class aboard his KX250F.

Under the Weather
Although he didn’t look sick, Dietrich came down with a bug when he woke up Sunday morning. He wasn’t alone considering many other riders, including Kawasaki’s Brenden Ritzman and Josh Morros, also seemed to have the same symptoms.
Despite coming down with the flu, Dietrich used what energy he had to finish with his first podium and turn out the third-quickest overall lap time.
Two for Two
Robert seems to be on a roll as he finished his second race of the season on top step of the podium. He came across the checkered with more than a minute lead on second-place.
It was one of the roughest tracks I have ever ridden, said Robert. I got a pretty good start and had the lead after the first lap. Josh (Morros) passed me but I got back to the front after he went down. The whole track was really tiring because it was really rough. Especially the quarter mile straight since it was nearly all whoops.
Can’t Keep Him Down
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott’s race on the sandy course came to an end during the second lap of the race when he had mechanical issues. There is one thing about Abbott that most people know and that is regardless of his fate, he will cheer on his teammates.
Keep a Look Out for This Guy
Carter Powersports Kawasaki dealer-assist rider Jamie Lanza continues to get comfortable to his KX450F as he finishes only his third race in the Pro class.
The pro class is definitely harder racing, said Lanza. In the Pro class there are 20 fast guys compared to a handful of really fast guys in the Pro 2 class. The KX450F is really good especially with the suspension we got on it now.
I felt the race went worse than round one because I crashed in this race. I went from ninth to 21st and ended up working my way back to 10th. Maybe it’s because I like the sand which makes me really excited for Havasu. I really want to podium there.
Watch Out Pro 2 Class
After an impressive third-place finish at the AMA National Hare and Hound last week, Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green rider Josh Morros clocked the second-fastest overall lap time, with only the Pro class winner ahead of him. Even with a small spill, he came out of the rough WORCS race with a ninth-place finish in the Pro 2 class.
This course was really hard packed but I felt that the off-road section was a little to my advantage with the sand, said Morros. The next race has several sandy sections so I am looking forward to being out front.
Looking Strong
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Damon Huffman continued to look consistent in his third-ever WORCS race, but a mechanical issue cut his race short. Before he went out, he was looking good in eighth place, which provides great motivation for the next race in Lake Havasu City.
It was unfortunate the way the day turned out but I am happy with how I rode up to that point, said Huffman. Im feeling more and more comfortable each race.
No Stone Unturned
The Monster Energy Kawasaki crew goes to great lengths in preparing for a race. Whether its tuning-up championship-winning bikes or sweeping what may seem like a never-ending gravel road.
