Raceway IndyCar Ticket Sales Enjoy Big Spike Following Patrick’s Victory in Japan
SONOMA, Calif. (April 23, 2008)
Danica Patrick’s historic IndyCar® Series victory this past weekend in Japan has fueled a huge spike in ticket sales at Infineon Raceway for its upcoming Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County weekend, Aug. 22-24.
The raceway’s ticket sales department enjoyed an increase of more than 400-percent for the first three days of this week (Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday), as compared with this same time period last week.
“The IndyCar Series has phenomenal momentum right now, starting with the unification, the emergence of new stars like Graham Rahal and now this historic first win for Danica,” said Steve Page, president and general manager of Infineon Raceway. “I think people can sense this great legacy of American open-wheel racing moving back into the forefront of our national sports scene.”
Patrick became the first female driver to ever win a major open-wheel race at the Indy Japan 300 at Twin Ring Motegi Japan on Sunday, April 20. To celebrate the victory, Infineon Raceway will issue race fans a free garage pass with the purchase of a weekend race ticket for a limited time. Weekend tickets start at just $65. Tickets can be purchased by calling 800-870-RACE.
The race weekend in August will also feature the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and the Firestone Indy Lights Series. For more information, visit www.infineonraceway.com or call 800-870-RACE.
