Series Champion and Porsche Veteran Join TRG For Next Round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Petaluma, CA

In a season that’s featured a team driving line-up that’s included everything from Daytona 24 Hours winners to series champions to stand-outs from the open-wheel and prototype ranks, TRG has added two more veterans to the team, including former series champion Craig Stanton and experienced Porsche driver Hima Maher.

Joining forces in the team’s number 65 Riegel Autosport/Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing Porsche GT3 997 Cup car, the duo will pair up for select races throughout the 2008 season, including the next round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, as well as the upcoming events in Watkins Glen, Daytona, Mid-Ohio, Montreal, and Miller Motorsports Park.

For 2005 series champion and current Koni Challenge points leader Craig Stanton, this is the chance to join forces with a team he’s been competing with for over a decade. “Joining TRG is both a big honor and a really good opportunity for me” stated Stanton, a long-time team competitor. “Kevin and I have been racing against each for a number of years, and it’s going to be a pretty wild experience finally joining forces. Running with a guy like Hima is the icing on the cake, as he’s one of the most technically astute drivers I’ve known.”

No stranger to Porsche racing himself, Canadian Hima Maher will be re-joining TRG after making his initial foray in to the Rolex GT category with a run at the 2008 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Maher, a veteran of many different levels of Porsche racing, joins the team with a fresh outlook and an un-relenting enthusiasm. “I’ve driven with TRG a number of times in the past, but to drive with Craig as part of the TRG team is a great opportunity for me.”

Returning as sponsors for Riegel Autosport are Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing and Total-R Insulation Solutions. For Wiegele, the involvement in the series is a perfect opportunity to promote their latest development, “The Resort at Saddle Mountain ” located in the Monashee Mountains of British Columbia, Canada.

For team owner Kevin Buckler, the addition of Stanton and Maher is another step forward in his pursuit to deliver the first win of 2008 for Porsche. “By putting the Riegel Autosport team together, Hima and his partners have made a commitment to a top level racing program and we are honored that they have chosen to partner with TRG. We are looking forward to giving them our best to achieve their objectives. Craig is a proven winner in every category in which he’s driven. He’s a class act and one of the best coaches in the world of Porsche racing. Craig will be a perfect addition to the team, not just behind the wheel but also with what he can bring to all of our other programs.

With Hima, we have a very talented and heads-up driver who runs a professional Porsche tuning shop in Calgary so he knows these cars inside and out. To also bring back Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is a big honor. We had a blast with them this year at an “All TRG” boys weekend at their resort at Blue River. Being an old skier myself, I’m really happy to see them come back for the year, and I think they’ll really enjoy their experience in sports-cars. We all look forward to seeing the 65 car back on the track at Laguna Seca. It should be a big event for all of us.”

TRG is a manufacturer and distributor of high performance automotive parts. TRG is also an engine and chassis building and tuning facility. There is a full service racecar preparation shop and facility to house the professional race teams. The company also provides electrical and mechanical engineering services, driver development and arrive and drive programs. TRG is based in Petaluma California, near its home track of Infineon Raceway.
