CR Scuderia welcomes a new recruit today as Finland’s Jesse Krohn has joined the team in place of Sten Pentus. The 17 year-old will test this week before starting his race programme with CRS at Snetterton on 12-13 July.
Jesse, who was first introduced to CRS’ Andrew Kirkaldy last year by his godfather, Mika Salo, is currently leading the Finnish and Scandinavian Formula Renault Championships.
“This is a good opportunity for me as CRS is one of the best, if not the best team,” said Jesse. “I tested with the team at the end of last year and it was all very positive. I will also continue to drive in the Finnish Formula Renault Championship as I want to do as much racing as possible. My goals are high and I am targeting top five finishes in Formula Renault UK; I know the car is fast enough for that.”
“We’ve never had a driver leave the team,” said CRS Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy when asked about Sten Pentus’ departure. “I’m disappointed it didn’t work out for Sten and we wish him all the best. That said we’re delighted to have Jesse on the team; he tested for us last winter and he was impressive. Unfortunately at the time the budget wasn’t in place for a full season of racing. It’s great to have the opportunity to run him now and I’m sure he’ll do well in the remaining races.”
The CRS Formula Renault team will be on track at Snetterton on Wednesday and Thursday this week for the official test session.
