TORRENCE READY FOR MORE SEAT TIME IN NORWALK

"Last weekend was more about getting into the groove of racing together as a team," Torrence said. "Working together at the shop is one thing, but it is never the same as working together at the track under all the pressure of competing at the national event level."

Torrence showed he has what it takes to compete at drag racing's highest level last weekend in Englishtown, N.J.

"Steve was really smooth in the car," Crew chief Tony Shortall said. "He does the same thing every time, and he is very methodical in his approach to driving the racecar. He did a great job of feeling what the car was doing and did a pretty good job of 'peddling' in that first round against Schumacher, in spite of the narrow loss."

"Tony [Schumacher] is one of the best drivers out there," Torrence said. "To be even somewhat close to him in that first round made me feel pretty good.

"I only got three laps in at E-Town so I'm looking forward to getting more runs and continuing to learn and improve my driving at each race we go to. I have a great bunch of guys on 'Team Vis Viva' supporting me and working their tails off so I have the best car each time I go to the starting-line. I am so thankful to have this opportunity and I hope I can get the whole team a win this weekend."
