AMA announces changes to 2008 AMA West Hare Scrambles Championship Series schedule

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced that a round of the AMA West Hare Scrambles Championship Series that had been cancelled is being placed back on the schedule. The September 27-28 event in Payette, Idaho, will run as originally planned.
"After speaking with the promoter, we are comfortable that the proper steps will be taken to ensure the event will proceed," said Chuck Weir, AMA off-road director. "Hopefully, this notice reaches our competitors in time so they can keep this exciting event on their calendars."
With the Idaho event back on the schedule, it becomes the final West round before the AMA East/West Hare Scrambles Shootout event in Davis, Oklahoma, on October 19, 2008.
The AMA East/West Hare Scrambles Shootout will run all recognized AMA Hare Scrambles classes, and crown AMA National Champions in the following: Overall, 86-200cc A, 201-250cc A, 251-Open A, Veteran A (over 30), Senior A (over 40), Super Senior A (over 50), 86-200cc B, 201-250cc B, 251-Open B, Veteran B (over 30), Senior B (over 40), Super Senior B (over 50), and Women (85cc-Open) A/B.
All riders are encouraged to participate in the Shootout, regardless of their championship eligibility. However, to be eligible for an AMA National Championship, riders must have earned points in three regional events in the class they are contesting at the Shootout.
