Braselton, Ga. (September 1, 2008) “
Attack Kawasaki’s Chaz Davies returned to race action in the AMA Supersport race at Road Atlanta after going down in a multiple rider pile up that also brought down teammate Steve Rapp. Davies unknowingly rode with a broken wrist and finished the race in 16th after starting in the back of the pack. In the AMA Superbike race, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking came in early on in the race with a bike issue.

Lap One
Starting from ninth on the grid, Davies got a good jump and made some early passes on the field. Suddenly riders were down in front of him and Davies had nowhere to go.
I tucked in for the back straight, and then I saw bikes on the ground, said Davies. Before I could avoid it, I hit one of the bikes. I ended up going over the bars and hitting really hard.
Chaz’s Courage
Unknown to Davies, he broke his wrist during the incident. Initially he only saw a deep cut on his elbow and wasn’t sure if he would be okay to go back out, but overall felt that he could do it. Not until he had gone back to the hotel after the race did he know something was wrong with his wrist and went to the hospital.
I was really sore all over, said Davies after the race. My wrist was really sore. I started from pit lane since I was really debating about going back out but I knew that we were sixth in points and wanted to earn anything I could to stay there.
Hard Hit
Starting from the front row, Rapp funneled in around fourth and was moving close to third when the rider in front of him went down on the back straight. He could do nothing but hit and went down. His hard hit had him taken to the medical center for examination. He flew home and had surgery to put a pin in his thumb.
Hacking
Running in the top-10 all weekend during practice, Hacking took to the grid on the second row for Sunday’s AMA Superbike race. After a decent start, he was forced to come in with a bike issue, finishing 21st.
Autographs
One of the highlights of the weekend was the autograph session on Sunday. Fans lined up around the Monster Energy Kawasaki race truck to get the autographs of the Kawasaki riders.
