KTM undisputed Number One in Supermoto in World and USA competitions

KTM

KTM factory rider Bernd Hiemer fought a gallant and successful fight right down to the wire for the 2008 S1 World Championship and now Troy Herfoss has rounded off a perfect season for KTM by also claiming the Supermoto Premier title in the USA.

Germany's Hiemer took the world championship title fight right to the end of race one of the final GP in Greece. Then for good measure, he went on to win the final race to give him a 32-point lead over his nearest rival Thierry van den Busch of France. His efforts also guaranteed that KTM took the Manufacturer's title for the S1 class.

Herfoss, Australian by birth but a KTM factory rider in the USA, also delivered a heroic final race day to that the American Supermoto Premier title at the XTRMA MA Supermoto Championship at the Infineon Raceway. He came into the final race with a good points lead but still needed a strong finish to clinch the title. Then a technical fault in the heat race saw him forced to start from the back row of the 17-lap main event. Pulling out all stops, the 21-year-old Australian fought his way through the pack to an eventual eighth place and enough points for the title. "After the troubles I had in the morning I knew I had to go out and ride hard and that's great for me. I do my best when I know I have to ride hard," Troy told reporters after the race. His efforts also resulted in a second KTM Manufacturer's title for a great final flourish to round up the season.

KTM, one of the leading manufacturer's of sports motorcycles is no stranger to world and other top championship titles. The latest Supermoto titles however are particularly pleasing for the Austrian manufacturer with the "Ready to Race" slogan because of their undisputed role as a pioneer in the sport of Supermoto.
