Local Amateur Riders Claim Top Spots in Supermoto on Friday

Infineon Raceway
SONOMA, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2008)

Four Northern California riders took the checkered flag in their respective classes on Friday, as the XTRM AMA Supermoto Championship, presented by Parts Unlimited, got under way at the Infineon Raceway Kart Center.

Nearly 100 amateur riders competed on the combination dirt and pavement course on Friday, and Bakersfield’s Josh Jackson claimed the victory in the premier Open Expert/Pro category.

Local race winners included Manteca’s Joey Hrenko (Vet 25+), Petaluma’s Bruno Moreda (65/125), Lodi’s Kyle Anselmi (Open Intermediate), and Stockton’s Ryan Kearns (85/150 and 250/400).

Racing continues on Saturday and Sunday, as championships will be decided in three professional categories: Supermoto Premier, Supermoto Lites and Supermoto Unlimited.

Supermoto blends on- and off-road racing, and a purpose-built Supermoto bike has to be able to handle high speeds on paved sections of a track, as well as negotiate large dirt and possibly steel jumps. Motorcycle displacements range from 250cc to 490cc and up, depending on classification.

Tickets are just $10 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. Kids 12 and under are admitted for FREE. Parking is FREE. For more information, visit www.infineonraceway.com or www.xtrm.com/supermoto.
