BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Aug. 26, 2009)
Antron Brown, who secured the No. 1 position in the Countdown to 1, will join three other NHRA drivers in promoting the 55th annual U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil, Sept. 2-7, at O'Reilly Raceway Park, when he appears at a local Indianapolis-area McDonald's location. Brown will meet fans and McDonald's patrons at the McDonald's location in Camby, Ind. from 5-6 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2009.
Brown, a five-time Top Fuel winner this season, joins NHRA stars Ashley Force Hood (Greenwood, Ind. on Sept. 2), Cory McClenathan (Carmel, Ind. on Sept. 1) and Eddie Krawiec (Indianapolis on Aug. 31) in the NHRA-themed McDonald's promotion. In addition to meeting four of the biggest names in NHRA racing, fans also can receive a $7 discount on any adult general-admission ticket for the event at O'Reilly Raceway Park. WIBC FM 93.1 also will be doing a radio remote during Brown's visit.
"This is a really cool deal that the NHRA, McDonald's and the folks from Coca-Cola put together to help promote the biggest race on our schedule," Brown said. "I hope we get to meet a lot of fans and hopefully create some new fans that will come out to ORP (O'Reilly Raceway Park) and get their first taste of our awesome sport so we can create some new nitrohaulics. I know I have to bring my kids and get them a Happy Meal for dinner. We all know a trip to McDonald's puts a smile on anyone's face and we aim to do the same next Monday night."
Brown owns a 187-point lead in the NHRA Top Fuel standings entering the 18th race on the 2009 NHRA schedule. This season, he has five wins, eight final-round appearances and six No. 1 qualifying awards, all category-bests. Brown, a 23-time NHRA winner, is the only racer in NHRA history to win races in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle. The former college track star at Mercer (N.J.) Community College carded the fastest run in 1,000-foot racing at 319.75 mph at Bristol, Tenn. in May. He has earned top speed of the meet honors at nine races this season.
