CRS RACING SIGNS UP FIRST DRIVER FOR 2010 FORMULA RENAULT BARC CAMPAIGN

CRS Racing

CRS Racing will enter its current fleet of Formula Renault cars in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship next year, in addition to running four brand new chassis’ in the 2010 Formula Renault UK Championship. The team is pleased to announce the signing of Mitchell Hale for the 2010 BARC series.

Fresh from Harry Tincknell’s Graduate Cup victory yesterday and just 12 months on from Adam Christodoulou’s overall championship win, CRS is expanding its already successful single-seater programme. This news comes in line with Renault UK’s announcement that the current Formula Renault UK cars are eligible for the BARC Championship next year.

Mitchell, who turns 16 in December, will join CRS for its first assault on the BARC title, before progressing on to the full Formula Renault UK Championship in 2011. The team is pleased to have Mitchell on board after keeping a close eye on him in recent times. He tested for CRS when he was just 14 years-old and since then the team has watched him move from international karting into the Ginetta Junior Championship, where he has learnt many of the current Formula Renault tracks.

“I first tested for CRS in Barcelona when I was 14 years-old and I know they’ve been watching me develop as a driver ever since then,” says Mitchell. “This will be a fantastic opportunity to progress through the Formula Renault ranks with the leading outfit on the grid. There is no better team to be with than CRS. I’m happy to be developing my single-seater craft in BARC. I then plan to step up to the main UK series – hopefully as champion – when I am 17.”

“CRS already operates a successful team in the Formula Renault UK Championship so the fact that these cars are now eligible for BARC makes this a natural extension of our single-seater business,” commented CRS Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy. “We feel it is important for us to make this announcement early as the interest is so high in both the Formula Renault series at the moment. Having the BARC team is a great opportunity for us to train drivers for the UK Championship, which will benefit both CRS and the drivers. Mitchell is one of the youngest drivers we have ever run. Given his limited experience he was impressive in Barcelona so we are delighted to be in a position to train him to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Harry (Tincknell) and Adam (Christodoulou).”
