Larrieu out of action until new year

Yamaha Racing

Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci Motocross Team’s Loic Larrieu will face a winter of recovery and rehabilitation after a practice crash last week left the French teenager with a set of dislocated shoulders.

The impressive 18 year old, who took a podium result at the Grand Prix of France during his maiden MX2-GP World championship campaign this summer, fell at a circuit in St Thibery, southern France last Thursday (8th October). One shoulder was able to be re-inserted swiftly but the other limb involved more complications. After waiting several days for swelling and inflammation to subside, Larrieu saw a specialist today (Friday, 16th October) and will have two operations; the first will consist of corrective surgery to his right shoulder next Wednesday (21st) and then the left side will go under the knife between three or four weeks after the initial procedure.

The youngster will use the majority of the off-season to heal although he should be able to dedicate himself to certain physical exercises in the short-term. It is expected that he’ll start riding again in February and be 100% set for the start of the 2010 MX2-GP season; in which he will steer the new YZ250F for the Italian team for only his second term at the highest level.
