Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, René Rast claims first pole position of the season

With the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, René Rast (Germany) takes up the season-opening round of this year’s Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Bahrain on Saturday from pole position. Competing for the Al Faisal Lechner Racing squad, last year’s vice-champion secured the season’s first best qualifying time ahead of Britain’s Nicholas Tandy (Konrad Motorsport) and Slovakian Stefan Rosina (Lechner Racing). At race two on the Bahrain International Circuit on Sunday, René Rast also stands on pole position, and again shares the first row with Nicholas Tandy. The Dutch title defender Jeroen Bleekemolen (Al Faisal Lechner Racing) starts from third.
With 24 drivers from 14 countries, the world’s fastest international one-make race series is once again very well supported.
Television stations “Eurosport 2” (Saturday 10.30 hrs, Sunday 10.00 hrs) and “Sky Sport 2” (Saturday 10.10 hrs, Sunday 10.00 hrs) broadcast the season-openers in Bahrain live. Additionally, “Eurosport” televises highlights on Sunday evening from 21.30 hours in its “Motorsports Weekend Magazine” programme.
