The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will once again be televised in 16 one-hour shows on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD, with coverage from select NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national events. In addition, the popular NHRA Sportsman Spotlights, focusing on NHRA’s member track network, will air on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD as part of the race coverage.

Two days before beginning the 2010 NHRA season, 24-time NHRA winner and driver of the Matco Tools dragster Antron Brown will visit with students at Cerritos College. The former college track star at Mercer (N.J.) Community College will speak to students at Cerritos College about education and career choices. Brown's 7,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster also will be on display.

Antron Brown enters his third season behind the wheel of the Matco Tools dragster in 2010. The only driver in NHRA history to win races and lead the standings in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, Brown looks to improve upon his third place finish in 2009 and earn his first NHRA championship. The Matco Tools flagship driver has 24 career NHRA wins, including a category-best six Top Fuel wins in 2009. TWO WEEKS FROM OPENER, WILKERSON READY TO ROLL

What a difference a year makes. 365 days ago, Tim Wilkerson was readying is troops and his equipment for the season opener in Pomona with more question marks than exclamation points in his head. He'd not only made the switch to a new chassis during the off-season, he'd moved from the familiar two-rail style to the newer and safer three-rail configuration, and in addition he was putting a sleek new Shelby Mustang on the car for the first time. If making changes can create challenges, Wilkerson had gone for the gusto.

NHRA EXTENDS K&N HORSEPOWER CHALLENGE CONTRACT

ANTRON BROWN TO VISIT MEMBERS OF LEGORE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB IN INDIANAPOLIS

Antron Brown, driver of the Don Schumacher Racing Matco Tools dragster, will visit with members of Indianapolis' LeGore Boys & Girls Club on behalf of Racers Who Care. Brown becomes the second Don Schumacher Racing driver to participate in the Quick Tips on Winning in Life presentation following DSR Funny Car driver "Fast Jack" Beckman, who spoke at the LeGore Boys & Girls Club last September. Brown will visit the club on the afternoon of Jan. 20.
"I always enjoy meeting with kids and speaking and interacting with them about education and important issues in life," Brown said. "I know Jack (Beckman) did a great job meeting with the group last summer during the U.S. Nationals and I look forward to meeting this group at the Boys & Girls Club on Tuesday."

LONGTIME NHRA BOARD MEMBER AND FIRST NATIONAL DRAGSTER EDITOR DICK WELLS (1934-2010) DIES AT 75

Dick Wells, the first editor of National DRAGSTER and a longtime member of the NHRA Board of Directors, died late Monday night from complications after heart surgery last November. He was 75.
