Sponsor logo identification will soon be placed on the freshly painted Formula BMW race car by the time the Formula BMW Europe Collective Test Sessions begin in early March.
2009 Formula BMW Americas Rookie Cup winner Michael Lewis will join the U.S. Formula Project Formula BMW Europe team and will compete in all of the 2010 Formula BMW Europe events, announced U.S. Formula Project Team Manager Alessandro Ferrari.

Michael Lewis visited Japan's Okayama International Circuit for the first time with the Eurointernational team for Rounds 13 and 14 of the Formula BMW Pacific series. Michael set the second quickest lap time of Round 13, and finished fourth. Michael is seen here at an earlier 2009 Formula BMW event.
Michael Lewis traveled to Japan to visit the Okayama International Circuit for Rounds 13 and 14 of the Formula BMW Pacific series with the Eurointernational team, and proved that he was fast right from the first practice session, but unfortunately, the results did not show his potential.

Michael Lewis Invited To Race In Japan Formula BMW Pacific Event For Eurointernational

Michael Lewis drove an impressive race in Singapore for the Eurointernational team by earning a second-place finish in Round 12 of the Formula BMW Pacific Series on September 27. As a result, team owner Antonio Ferrari has invited Michael to compete in the next two rounds of the series in Japan, October 31 and November 1.
Michael Lewis and Eurointernational team owner Antonio Ferrari look forward to another excellent showing from Michael at Rounds 13 and 14 of the Formula BMW Pacific Series, coming up at the Okayama International Circuit in Japan, October 30 and November 1.

Michael Lewis came up to speed quickly at the Marina Bay race circuit in Singapore, for Rounds 11 and 12 of the Formula BMW Pacific series, September 26 and 27.

Michael Lewis receives the 2009 Formula BMW Americas Championship Rookie of the Year trophy from Michael Muhlberger, president of Formula BMW Americas Championship.
It takes teamwork to win a championship, and the Eurointernational team gave Michael Lewis a competitive race car all season to help Michael earn the 2009 Formula BMW Americas Championship Rookie of the Year honor.
Indy 500 winner and Rahal Letterman Racing team co-owner Bobby Rahal congratulates Michael Lewis on winning the 2009 Formula BMW Americas Championship Rookie of the Year.
The final two rounds of the 2009 Formula BMW Americas Championship season were held at the famous Mosport International Raceway, in Canada, where Michael Lewis earned the Rookie of the Year driver championship. Michael arrived to Mosport in second place in the Rookie Championship standings trailing by only two points. During the four practice sessions over the weekend, Michael drove the #42 Eurointernational car consistently running in the top three on the time charts. His objective was to qualify ahead of the two drivers that he was battling with in the rookie points. On Friday, Michael qualified fourth for both the Saturday and Sunday final events putting him ahead of rookie competitors Australian James Kovacic and Canadian Alex Ellis for both the Saturday and Sunday rounds.

Michael Lewis went back to his roots for a weekend of kart racing at the CHAMPIONSHIP KART INTERNATIONAL Grand Prix held this past weekend at CalSpeed Kart Track in Fontana, California. “I wanted to get tuned up for my next Formula BMW race this coming weekend at Elkhart Lake and the timing was perfect with the inaugural running of this CKI event at the CalSpeed Track so I brought our Zanardi kart out of mothballs and went out and raced with the best karters around,” Lewis said.

In the coming 2010 season BMW will concentrate on running its Formula BMW Europe and Formula BMW Pacific series. Despite challenging economic conditions in 2009, the European Formula BMW series continued to maintain 26-strong grids in its second season. Formula BMW Pacific has also benefited from integration of Formula BMW into the supporting bills of Formula One Grands Prix, as attested to by a steadily increasing number of competitors.

Michael Lewis entered the Lime Rock Formula BMW Americas Rounds 8 and 9 with a high degree of optimism, and after recording the third quickest time in the single 20-minute practice session, both Lewis and his Eurointernational Team looked forward to a productive race weekend. Lewis qualified fifth for Round 8, and experienced rain conditions for the first time for the qualifying effort for Round 9 where he qualified in sixth position.
