Race Update
Sun, 14 Mar 201
Our earlier race report stated that Sebastian Vettel’s loss of power on lap 33 of the Bahrain Grand Prix was due to an exhaust problem. However, further investigations by the team have proven that the loss of power was actually due to a spark plug failure and not the exhaust.

Red Bull Racing 16 Points 18 Races to Go
Red Bull Racing
2010 Bahrain Grand Prix
Race Report
14 March 2010
CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal:
“It was cruel luck with Sebastian today. He drove a great race and was pulling away at the front. We had a very good pit stop with him and he was controlling the lead comfortably until lap 33, when he had a sudden loss of power. He was then powerless to defend to the Ferraris and Hamilton, but he drove extremely well to retain fourth position. It gives us valuable points, but ultimately it’s very disappointing to lose such a great opportunity for a victory. Mark lost ground in the first turn and a little more with a slight sticking front tyre at his pit stop, losing him a place to Jenson (Button). After that, despite being a lot faster than the cars in front, he was unable to overtake.”

“Both Lewis and Jenson raced very well here in Bahrain this afternoon. After the disappointment of our qualifying performance yesterday, the fact that our race pace was strong today was extremely encouraging. In fact, in the last part of the race, Lewis’s was the fastest car on the track.

Scuderia Toro Rosso Tough Love!
Scuderia Toro Rosso
2010 Bahrain Grand Prix
Race Report
Sunday 14/03/10
Franz Tost
"This first race weekend did not go the way we expected, because, based on the result of our testing in February, we thought we would be closer to the points. Buemi suffered a hydraulic problem on Friday and hardly did any laps and was therefore unable to find the best set-up and we paid heavily for this in Qualifying. As for the race, we have to analyse why Buemi had such a poor start and now we have find out why his car stopped without warning, with what we assume was an electrical problem. At least Alguersuari finished the race, in thirteenth place, so this is another circuit he can tick off his learning book. We will now analyse the whole weekend in the hope of returning to the pace and reliability we had in winter testing and we are looking forward to fighting back in Melbourne.

Royal visit for Alonso and Ferrari
Sakhir, 14 March
Very special support for Fernando Alonso at his debut Grand Prix with Ferrari arrived this morning when Juan Carlos, the King of Spain, came to greet him at the Scuderia’s box. The King is a great fan of motorsports and Formula 1 and didn’t want to miss the season’s first race, which will be particularly exciting.

Qualifying and Final Free Practice Report
Bahrain International Circuit, Saturday March 13
MARTIN WHITMARSH
Team principal, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
“We had a few issues with grip and ride in qualifying today – especially in the middle sector of the lap over the bumps. That being the case, both our drivers did a fantastic job – and as a result Lewis will start tomorrow’s race from the second row and Jenson from the fourth row. It’ll be a hot and tiring Sunday afternoon for all 24 drivers, but Jenson’s and Lewis’s fitness and determination will benefit them throughout the 49 laps.”

Sakhir Circuit, Bahrain, 13th March 2010
It was a solid if unspectacular start to the AT&T Williams team 2010 season today, with both Rubens and Nico progressing into the second qualifying session, but failing to meet their ambitions to finish the day inside the top ten. Both drivers remain confident of a strong performance tomorrow in a race to be run to new and significantly different regulations.

SEBASTIAN VETTEL, POLE POSITION
Red Bull Racing
2010 Bahrain Grand Prix
Qualifying and Final Free Practice Report
13 March 2010
CHRISTIAN HORNER:
“A brilliant job today. It’s great to be starting the new season in pole position. Sebastian drove faultlessly through all three sessions and delivered three laps that were good enough for pole; it’s testimony to all the hard work that’s gone in over the winter. The guys have worked wonders within Red Bull Racing and first on the grid is a great place to be starting the new race format tomorrow. Mark was looking good in the first and second qualifying sessions, but unfortunately he dropped a bit of time in the mid-sector of his last lap, which was the difference between the front row and sixth. I’m sure he’ll be strong tomorrow.”

Force India Formula One Team
2010 Bahrain Grand Prix
Qualifying and Final Free Practice Report
13 March 2010
The Force India F1 Team will start tomorrow's season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix with both cars in the top 12. Tonio Liuzzi will start from 12th position, his best starting slot since the Italian GP 2009, while Adrian Sutil will line up in tenth after entering into Q3. With a view to the race strategy tomorrow, in which drivers starting in the top ten must start the race on the tyres on which they qualified, Adrian made his final run of the last session on the harder tyre compound, the only driver in Q3 to do so.

Scuderia Toro Rosso better than Expected
Scuderia Toro Rosso
2010 Bahrain Grand Prix
Saturday 13/03/10
Giorgio Ascanelli:
I am disappointed with the fact we were not able to give Sebastien any running yesterday, but today, I am actually quite happy that we did better than seventeenth and eighteenth, which is what I had expected. Jaime had traffic and made a mistake, which can happen, so he is capable of better. With only limited running in free practice, Seb didn't get the best out of himself and the car, but I am happy with what both drivers did. There is no reason to expect a better race pace, but it will be a tough afternoon during which I hope we will be sustained by our reliability.
