PIERRE KAFFER TO RACE WITH CRS

Pierre Kaffer will join CRS Racing’s Le Mans Series line-up after signing up to run alongside Pierre Ehret and Phil Quaife. The German driver will join the team for the first two LMS races of the season: Paul Ricard and Spa.

Drayson Racing is privileged today to earn its second consecutive invitation to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Automobile Club De l'Ouest (ACO), official sanctioning body of the 24 Heures du Mans, has named Drayson Racing as one of 21 Le Mans Prototype One (LM P1) entries to its field. 84 total entries were received across the four classes to fill the 55 position starting grid for the 78th running of the classic sports car race. The 12-13 June event will also mark the second time for drivers Paul Drayson (London/Gloucestershire, UK) and Jonny Cocker (Guisborough, Yorks, UK) to campaign a car on the 13.629 Km/8.468 mile-long Circuit de la Sarthe for Drayson Racing. The duo will share a Lola B09-60 Coupé with Judd V10 power on Michelin tyres with a third driver to be announced at a later date.

Audi will start the 78th edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 12/13 with a total of three diesel-powered racing sports cars. At a press conference of the organizer, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), in Le Mans (France), Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich announced Audi’s driver line-up for the most important sports car race of the year.

The year 2010 marks 75 years of the Jaguar name on both road and race cars. As a continuation of this great heritage, Jaguar can confirm it will return to the famed Le Mans 24 hours. With a total of seven wins at Le Mans 24 hours between 1951 and 1990, Jaguar is the single most successful British make in the race's history. Jaguar will return to its favourite hunting ground and will line up on the starting grid on 12th June 2010 with an XKR GT2 run by JaguarRSR.

To further prepare for the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi Sport is planning an additional racing commitment with the Audi R15 TDI that has undergone additional development. For April 11, the participation in the 8-hour race at Le Castellet in southern France is planned for testing purposes.

MAZDASPEED Wins Daytona 24 Hour For 23rd Time

With 22 class wins in the annual Rolex 24 at Daytona, expectations were high in the Mazda camp. The key is in total preparation and maintaining focus for 24 hours under extreme pressure. The 2010 race covered all of the highs and lows of racing. The Mazda cars swept the top three positions in qualifying before running into a variety of minor problems and old fashioned bad luck in the early hours. Perseverance by the Castrol Syntec SpeedSource RX-8 #70 team of Sylvain Tremblay, David Haskell, Nick Ham, and Jonathan Bomarito resulted in a come from behind win.

After leading much of the 15-minute qualifying session for this year’s Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, Andy Lally in the AXA No. 66 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car fell victim to a last minute assault by a fleet of Mazdas to finish the day in fifth. Andy was the top Porsche in a very competitive GT field.

The Alex Job Racing No. 23 Foametix/Battery Tender/Porsche 997 GT3 Cup entry will start the 48th running of the Grand-Am Road Racing Series Rolex 24 Hour At Daytona from the 21st starting position tomorrow. The effort did not come without a lot of work. The team experienced a near event ending crash in Thursday's practice.
