Sébastien Ogier's thrilling comeback stopped in its tracks
INTERCONTINENTAL RALLY CHALLENGE
2010 RALLYE MONTE CARLO
Monte Carlo, le 23 janvier 2010
In rallying, perhaps more than in any other form of motor sport, being the fastest driver doesn't always suffice to win, as Sébastien Ogier found out the hard way on this week's Rallye Monte-Carlo. After claiming just one stage win en route to his sensational victory on the same event this time last year, the Frenchman ended up as the driver with the highest number of fastest times (seven) to his name this time round, yet he was deprived of a second consecutive success as a result of two separate incidents that weren't of his making.

PEUGEOT
2010 Rallye Monte-Carlo
PEUGEOT OUT IN FORCE TO DEFEND ITS TITLE
With a field of no fewer than ten 207 Super 2000s on the 63-strong entry list for the 2010 Rallye Monte-Carlo, Peugeot is particularly well armed in its bid to repeat the one-two-three result it secured on last year's event. The ranks of the French firm are spearheaded by four cars in particular: the two 207 Super 2000s of last year's winner Sébastien Ogier and Stéphane Sarrazin that will run in the colours of Peugeot France and the brand's national dealership association, plus the Peugeot UK-backed machine of the 2009 IRC champ Kris Meeke and Peugeot Portugal's entry for its national champion, Bruno Magalhaes.

Two Citroëns in front ahead of longest day
Team Citroën Total
Rally Australia

With 23 stages and 220km of competitive action behind them, there is practically nothing in it between Dani Sordo, Sébastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen! The second leg concluded with Sordo in front, but the Spaniard is just one tenth of a second clear of Loeb and Hirvonen who are exactly level. The third and final day, which is also the longest of the event, promises to be the sort of thriller that no scriptwriter would have dared imagine
