With a series named “World of Outlaws,” one might think the group regularly competes around the globe. Truth is, Sprint car racing’s elite teams race primarily in the United States, but do sprinkle a few international appearances into their annual 70-race, nomad-like schedule. Canadian soil has been the most circled dirt of any outside the United States for the Outlaws during their 32-year history, and this weekend, “The Greatest Show on Dirt” will once again venture north of the border.

Michael Lewis not only won the Trophy Dash prior to the Ford Focus main event at Orange Show Speedway, in San Bernardino, California, on Saturday, August 14, but he also won the 40-lap main event in a decisive manner.

In most forums of competition, there is a signature event that outweighs all others. Competitors can say all the right things about it being just another event, but everyone knows better. Whether it’s the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, Daytona 500 or Indianapolis 500, the atmosphere surrounding the venue always is more energized. The signature event in Sprint car racing is the Knoxville (Iowa) Nationals, and this year’s four-night marathon has added significance. This year marks the 50th year Sprint car racing’s fiercest competitors battle it out for the most coveted title in the sport: Knoxville Nationals champion.

Hall of Fame Weekend at Knoxville Next Up for Tony Stewart Racing

Any time the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint car series competes at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, it’s a big deal, and this weekend’s trip to central Iowa will be no different. The Outlaws, led by the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) combo of Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz, return to the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” for three nights of racing at the famed half-mile dirt oval beginning Thursday with the Mediacom Shootout, continuing Friday with the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom, and concluding Saturday with the Mediacom Shootout finale.

NINE RACING SCORES TOP 10 FINISH IN ITS RETURN TO ORP’S

1: The Nine Cars return to ORP and stand ready to do battle in the annual Night Before 500 Midget race. Kevin Swindell drove the #9 and Billy Wease drove the #19.
2: Pavement specialist Dave Steele is conferring with drivers Swindell and Wease after the first practice session.

The storied Nine Racing midget team scored a top 10 finish in its return to the USAC National Midget Series Saturday night, May 29, for the 65th running of the Night Before The 500 Midget Race. Nine Racing fielded a two-car effort for drivers Kevin Swindell and Billy Wease. Both drivers made a dramatic charge through the field, with Wease finishing in 6th place after starting in the 16th position. Swindell had a tire go down after he had gotten to 7th place from the 20th starting position, ending the race for him.

On a beautiful Indiana spring day the last week of May, the Nine Racing facility doors were opened at the Southpoint Circle Brownsburg shop to treat fans and sponsors with the opportunity to come inside and see firsthand the ultra modern shop where the Nine Racing midgets are housed and prepared.

There’s a buzz in the air. Memorial Day weekend is here, signifying it’s time for the world of motorsports to take center stage. While most Americans turn their attention to summer, the auto racing community gears up for the rise in temperature. Across the country, at racetracks of all shapes and sizes, the cars and stars will showcase their talents during the holiday weekend. The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint car series kick off the weekend by invading the heart of NASCAR country on Friday night, and the drama continues Sunday with both the 94th running of the Indianapolis 500 and the 51st running of the Coca-Cola 600.

There’s nothing like playing a rivalry game to ratchet up the blood pressure. Yankees vs. Red Sox. Bears vs. Packers. Ohio State vs. Michigan. World of Outlaws vs. the Pennsylvania Posse. It’s winner-take-all and, for the fans, it’s bragging rights. As if the rigors of racing with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series weren’t enough, the premiere Sprint car racers in the world head into unfriendly waters this weekend, making their first stop at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., which boasts some of the toughest regional competition the Outlaws annually face. Tony Stewart Racing’s Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz lead the Outlaw stars poised to regain supremacy after watching members of the Posse claim victory in all four stops at the legendary half-mile dirt oval in 2009.

2006 Turkey Night Grand Prix winner Billy Wease has been signed by Nine Racing for the 65th Annual Night Before The 500 Midget Race at O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP), in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Saturday, May 29. Billy will join Kevin Swindell for a two-car team effort driving two Nine Racing Beast midgets with Esslinger Ford power.
