Michael Lewis Kicks Off 2010 with Fast Start

Michael Lewis and the Western Speed Ford Focus team visited Tucson Raceway Park, in Tucson, Arizona, and had a strong start to the New Year as Michael finished in third position, behind teammate Cody Gerhardt in second.
Michael Lewis sped into the 2010 race season be setting quick time at Tucson Raceway Park’s fast 3/8-mile paved oval, on Friday, January 1, for the track’s special USAC Ford Focus event. Michael and his Western Speed Ford Focus team started off strong as he and his teammate Cody Gerhardt qualified first and second respectively. “Kevin Gerhardt had both of our cars dialed in perfectly for our qualifying effort and all I had to do was hit my marks and our two cars ended up on top of the chart for qualifying,” stated Michael.

Michael Lewis Caps Successful Ford Focus Season With Third-Place Finish at Turkey Night Grand Prix

After qualifying fifth for the annual Turkey Night Grand Prix Ford Focus event on November 26, 2009, at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Michael Lewis took time out on the front stretch for the autograph session just before the start of the feature event.
Michael Lewis started the Ford Focus portion of the 69th Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on the outside of the front row, and came home in third position, which earned him fourth position in the USAC California Pavement Ford Focus Car Series driver’s championship.
The most important race of the year for all Ford Focus teams and drivers is the season-ending, annual Turkey Night Grand Prix, at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, in California. Thirty Ford Focus teams entered the USAC event bringing drivers from all across the country to compete on Thanksgiving at the 1/3-mile paved oval. Michael Lewis and his teammate Cody Gerhardt came to the final 2009 USAC California Pavement Ford Focus Car Series event with five feature wins between them. Both drivers recorded strong lap times during the five practice sessions and looked forward to a strong qualifying effort. Michael qualified the orange #60 Western Speed Ford Focus midget in 5th place, which because of the six-car invert, placed him on the front row for the start of the 40-lap feature.

Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) driver Donny Schatz clinched his fourth consecutive World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series championship by finishing sixth in Saturday night’s 30-lap World Finals feature at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C. Schatz won the championship driving the TSR No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ ParkerStore J&J in 65 events during the 2009 season, earning team sponsors Armor All and Chevy their second straight championship in Winged Sprint car’s premiere racing division.

Michael Lewis Finishes Fourth at Stockton Ford Focus Race

Michael Lewis visited New Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday, October 10, with high expectations for the #60 Western Speed Ford Focus midget in the USAC California Pavement Ford Focus Series.
Michael Lewis set second fast quick time of the Ford Focus midget field while driving the #60 Western Speed Ford Focus midget, and started the race inside of the sixth row. He ran a clean race and brought the car home in fourth position.
After winning at Orange Show Speedway the last time Michael Lewis drove the #60 Western Speed Ford Focus midget in the USAC California Pavement Ford Focus Series, he visited New Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday, October 10, with high expectations. Before a packed house of enthusiastic Northern California race fans, Michael qualified second, which placed him inside the third row for the start of the 40-lap feature at the 1/4–mile asphalt oval track in Stockton. When the main event began Michael and his teammate Cody Gerhardt made a clean start but it took them both a few laps to move past traffic, which allowed the leader to pull away. The feature event ran non-stop so Cody and Michael drove the two Western Speed team cars to third and fourth respectively.

With this weekend’s World of Outlaws (WoO) third annual Oil City Cup comes another opportunity for Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Kraig Kinser. The 24-year-old Kinser is in the midst of his second season driving the TSR No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider Maxim, and both of his WoO wins in the car came 46 degrees north of the equator or higher. This weekend’s stop at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, marks the northernmost stop on the WoO odyssey this season.
