LIPTON TEA 250 POST-RACE QUOTES

CARL EDWARDS – No. 60 Save-a-Lot Ford Fusion (Finished 7th)
TO PIT OR NOT TO PIT, IT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS.

“Yeah, what happened was Harvick and I were up there leading and we just didn’t pit and everybody else did. That was it. But they had like 10 cars between us and the guy behind us, so they all got time to think about what they were gonna do. By watching the leaders stay out, it’s an easy decision then. I should have pitted. It’s just a mistake.”

RAGAN PACES FORD QUALIFYING EFFORTS AT RICHMOND

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 Discount Tire Ford Fusion (Qualified 34th)
“It was way better than what we had earlier today and I was really happy with how the car drove. We just didn’t go real fast, but we’ll see. I feel like we’re gonna be OK. It’s just like everywhere else we go. We’ve been in this situation several times this year and we’ve kept our nose clean and raced all the laps and drove a smart race and we end up with a good top-20 finish, and I think that’s what we need to do again tomorrow. We need to obviously keep our nose clean and work on the car throughout the evening and stay on the lead lap the best we can. It’s gonna be tough because I think we’re gonna start a ways back, but we just have to work hard and plug along all night and I think we can get a decent finish out of it.”

DAVID RAGAN FINISHES FOURTH AT TALLADEGA; TRAVIS KVAPIL IS SIXTH

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Travel Ford Fusion (finished 4th)
WHAT WAS YOUR STRATEGY AT THE END?

“I was probably being as conservative as anybody out there, because I probably didn’t have that many friends that would go with me, so I had to do what I could to take of myself and then really couldn’t worry about everybody else. It would’ve been nice to have some teammates up there. It looks like some of our teammates and our Fords had a tough day today, so I was kind of alone up there with all the other manufacturers. For the most part, the best move that I made was just not making a move all day, just staying in line.”

BOBBY HAMILTON, JR., FINISHES IN THIRD PLACE IN NATIONWIDE RACE AT TALLADEGA

BOBBY HAMILTON, JR., press conference

BOBBY HAMILTON, JR., – No. 25 Smithfield Ford Fusion (finished 3rd)
“It was really wild. And, that was the wildest wreck. It was pretty wild as far as how it happened. The only other thing, too, that was really mind-blowing was that you couldn’t get nothing done on the outside. You had to have a ton of help. The track has just so much grip.

JON WOOD QUALIFIES AT TALLADEGA, RACES AT KANSAS

JON WOOD – No. 21 Little Debbie Snack Cakes Ford Fusion
“I’m going to stop by my motorhome and then to the airport. I’m taking my dad, my mom, my spotter – all of the necessary people that you need, and then I’m going to Kansas. Hopefully, in time to make it for the race. I feel pretty good about it. I did get a fairly early draw today. Every single car counts. That’s five minutes you have to wait per car, but getting to go out early is a huge plus for us. The first and foremost thing, obviously, was to qualify the car in and then Kansas. So far, we’ve been able to accomplish everything that we set out to do.”

DAVID RAGAN QUALIFIES SIXTH AT TALLADEGA

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Travel Ford Fusion (qualified 6th)
“I’m pretty excited. We never made a qualifying run with our AAA Ford. We really concentrated on race runs yesterday in our practice. So, we had absolutely no expectations going into today’s qualifying. But, that’s great for everyone on our AAA team, for Jimmy Fennig, all the guys. It’s all about the car and all the particulars this weekend. So, it feels good to know that these guys are looking out for me. Five hundred miles on Sunday is a long race, but I think we’ve got a good car.”

CARL EDWARDS CARRIES SERIES-LEADING THREE WINS INTO TALLADEGA

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion
“Superspeedways have been kind of our weak point here, but that’s almost by design. It’s four races a year that are totally different from other things we do, so we really focused on the meat of the schedule and we’ve just kind of got what we could get at these places. It was really hard for me to accept when I first came here, but now I kind of see how that works. We could spend of time and energy on these things, but they’re still such a crapshoot that it might not really help you. But, we can get better and we probably will eventually, once we get everything else wrapped up.”

GREG BIFFLE ON CONTRACTS AND TALLADEGA

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M/Red Cross Ford Fusion
ON ALL THE TALK THIS WEEKEND OF TONY STEWART AND HIS CONTRACT SITUATION.

“Obviously, he’s let the world know that he was unhappy about something at Gibbs. I think we’ve all been in that situation before. There’s certain ways to go about it, I guess, and he’s made it known that he wants to get out of his current contract at the end of the season, I guess, or whatever. We all go through that, we all go through contract periods and wanting to get out of contract early to go do something else is part of the sport, I guess.”

JACK ROUSH AND DAVID RAGAN TALK ABOUT FORD/AAA STUDENT AUTO SKILLS; FINALS IN DEARBORN ON JUNE 24

JACK ROUSH – team owner, Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusions
“The reason Roush Fenway is represented with me being present is to help bring attention to the wonderful program that AAA and Ford have partnered to further the interests that a lot of high school students have in the automotive technology industry, service industry, which, of course, includes NASCAR racing and the service of the race cars that we’re involved with here at the Talladega race track.

CARL EDWARDS QUALIFIES 11TH FOR NATIONWIDE RACE AT TALLADEGA

CARL EDWARDS – No. 60 Save-a-Lot Ford Fusion (qualified 11th)
THIS YEAR THERE’S QUITE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NATIONWIDE AND CUP CARS AT THIS TRACK, BUT DO YOU STILL LOOK FOR THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS IN THE CAR FOR SUCCESS HERE?

“Yeah, you just want a car that’s not too tight or not too loose, that sucks up to the other cars real well. But that’s it. That’s all you’re looking for. There’s no magic feel or anything, you know?”

MARCOS AMBROSE EARNS CAREER BEST FINISH AT MEXICO CITY; FINISHES SECOND

MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 59 Kingsford with Hickory Ford Fusion – (finished 2nd, qualified 4th, started 40th after clutch change)
ON THE INCIDENT WITH BORIS SAID. “If I could take it back, I would. I didn’t mean to get into Boris; I really like him. He’s a great racer and I’ve idolized him in the past and I still do. If I could wind the clock back, I would. It’s just hard racing up there. He checked up in the middle of the corner. I was getting something from behind and I wanted to defend my position. Our bumper bars just hooked and it just turned him around. It was just the craziest thing I’ve seen. I feel bad for him. I can’t take it back. We’re proud of our day. We’ve driven well and we’ve got a team behind us. We’re back in the points and we’re having a great day.”

CARL EDWARDS SEEKS FOURTH WIN AT NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY

CARL EDWARDS – No. 60 Scotts Miracle-Gro Ford Fusion
YOU HAVE SEVERAL WINS AT NASHVILLE; IF YOU DON’T WIN, IS IT DISAPPOINTING OR DO YOU THINK THE ODDS HAVE FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH YOU?

“We come to every race track every week to do the same thing. The way this sport changes so much, it doesn’t matter if you’ve won the last 10 races in at a place or if you’ve run terrible the last 10 times, there’s no reason you can’t go win the next time. Odds don’t change based on previous races. So we have the same odds of winning this race as we have race before that. We don’t let it bother us. I personally don’t think of this as a place I’ve won three times. I think of this as a place we’re running this week and we’ve just got to do the same thing we’ve been doing.”

BIFFLE LEADS FORD DRIVERS WITH FOURTH-PLACE RUN IN BRISTOL CUP RACE

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 Jackson Hewitt Ford Fusion (Finished 4th)
“We had a good day. It’s unfortunate that the caution came out at the end because I think we could have got those other guys that stayed out on tires, but, oh well. It was a great day for us. The car was real good. I kind of waited to long to get to the front.”
