Fresh off his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Kurt Busch will swap his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger for a Mopar®-powered 1970 Dodge Challenger Super Gas car. The 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champ is set to do battle on the drag strip in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at the 41st Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals. The event is scheduled for March 11–14 at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway.

Jack Roush Celebrates Win No. 400

Jack Roush Sr. celebrated a racing milestone yesterday at Homestead-Miami Speedway when his son, Jack Roush Jr., and co-driver Billy Johnson won the Homestead 200 (Grand Sport Class) at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The win marked the 400th all-time victory for Roush Sr. in road racing and NASCAR combined.

“I tell you what, I’m so proud of my guys at the shop and at the engine department. They build such good cars and worked all winter. Hopefully, California is as good as this was, but I just made a mistake – a lack of experience probably. Going into turn one I should have pushed McMurray, instead of trying to make the pass then when I got the big run and try to make the pass coming to the stripe or down the back, instead of down the front. Third-place isn’t all that bad, but I’m just so happy for Jamie. I pushed him to the win down the backstretch and I feel pretty good about that.”

Kahne Wins First Cup Race With Ford In Gatorade Duel 150

Today’s win by Kasey Kahne was the first win for Ford’s new FR9 engine.

The win also marked the first for Richard Petty Motorsports since joining Ford at the beginning of this season.

Kasey Kahne’s win was his first at Daytona International Speedway, the first with Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and the 20th win for Ford in a Gatorade Duel qualifying race.

Kahne becomes the third active Ford driver to ever win a Gatorade Duel, joining Bill Elliott (4) and Elliott Sadler (2).

All 13 Ford teams are qualified for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
