JONAS ANDERSSON EARNS FIRST CAREER POLE IN QATAR!
AL QAMZI AND SELIO IN TOP-3; QATAR TEAM PRICE 5TH!
DOHA, Qatar - 28th of March, 2008
Swedish F2 multi-time champion Jonas Andersson didn't run many laps on Friday, but the one's he did he made a big statement as he put together a days best 43.64 second lap around the 5-turn 1.99 kilometer lap to capture his first pole position and will lead the field of 23 drivers from 13 different nations for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Qatar in downtown Doha on the edge of the Arabian Gulf.

EX-WORLD CHAMPION BOCCA ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT!
MARIT STROMOY TO JOIN RAINBOW RACING FOR 2008!

In what was strongly rumored to be a possibility, became reality today when 1992 World Champion Fabrizio Bocca of Casalle, Italy announced his retirement as a driver immediately and will take over as owner/manager of the Rainbow Racing Team just one week before the start of the U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating at the 5th annual Grand Prix of Qatar on the 28th and 29th of March.

For the first time in 8 years, the name on the U.I.M. F1 World Championship Trophy for world champion will have neither Scott Gillman or Guido Cappellini on it's face as Finnish star Sami Selio went out and made a statement to day letting the field know that he is the driver of "new era" by taking the title while winning his 2nd straight in the Emirates and his 3rd of the year taking the 2007 title by four points 104-100.

Finnish driver Sami Selio earned his first Grand Prix in his 64th start along with his BABA boat depite battling for most of the day in rough water and a loss of power steering at the 18th Grand Prix of France the 2nd round of the 2007 U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating in front of thousands of fans in the inner harbour of La Rochelle on the West Coast of France.
