AMA announces final teams for 2009 International Six Days Enduro

Timmy Weigand to replace injured Nathan Woods on Trophy Team Women's Trophy Team, Junior Trophy Team and club team members announced.
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the rosters for the U.S. Women's Trophy Team, the U.S. Junior Trophy Team and the members of the U.S. club teams that will carry the banner for American off-road racing honor at the 2009 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Figueria da Foz, Portugal, Oct. 12-17

AMA Announces Trophy Team for 2009 International Six Days Enduro
American Motorcyclist Association (AMA)
PICKERINGTON, Ohio
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the riders who will contest the 84th International Six Days Enduro for the U.S. World Trophy Team. Returning to take on the world this Oct. 12-17 in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, are the riders who rode to a third-place team finish on Team USA at last year's event: Destry Abbott, Kurt Caselli, Ricky Dietrich, Jimmy Jarrett, Nathan Kanney and Nathan Woods.

After three days of torturous Enduro riding in the race that is called the Mother of all Hard Enduro races, Chris Birch, riding a KTM 300 EXC was not only winner of the notorious Roof of Africa - he also did it by a huge margin of 48.5 minutes.

“ Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ricky Dietrich finished out the best season of his career by taking his first AMA EnduroCross Championship during the series finale at the Orleans Arena. The battle went down to the wire between Dietrich and his teammate Damon Huffman who finished the night with his third win of the season and second overall in the standings. Teammate Destry Abbott finished eighth.

Successful finish of the first full WEC season

2008 World Enduro Championship
Munich. With the final round of the '08 World Enduro Championship taking place this past weekend in Mende, France the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team brought to a close their first full season of WEC competition. Entering selected races in '07 as they developed the then prototype version of the G 450 X, during the eight rounds of the '08 enduro world championship the team has endured everything the world's toughest off-road motorcycle championship has thrown at them as well as claiming an all important first podium result. Learning every step of the way the team is now ready to move into '09 where they hope to become one of the strongest teams in the WEC.

“ Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Damon Huffman kept his win streak alive as he took his second EnduroCross win in a row at National Western Complex in Denver, Colo. Teammate Ricky Dietrich wasn’t too far behind Huffman with a fourth-place finish. With the round four win, Huffman moves into first place in the point standings, 11 points in front of Dietrich.

The two Kawasaki riders top the points standings with Dietrich in first over Huffman by only one point.

“ Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ricky Dietrich and Destry Abbott ended competition of the rigorous International Six-Day Enduro in Serres, Greece on Saturday, with Dietrich finishing a remarkable second in both the E1 class and overall amongst all the World Trophy competitors. Abbott made a great run on the last day to move up to ninth in the E2 class standings and finish 22nd overall. As a team, USA was able to earn the bronze medal with third overall.

American Motorcyclist Association congratulates Team USA on successful showing at International Six Days Enduro

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) congratulates the members, volunteers, sponsors and staff who were part of the Team USA effort at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Serres, Greece, this September 1-6. The U.S. Trophy Team finished on the podium, the team's best result at the ISDE since the Trophy Team finished second in 1982, while the U.S. Women's Trophy Team finished second in the women's division and the Junior Trophy Team scored a hard-fought 12th.
