Revisions to AMA Pro Flat Track National Hot Shoe Series Announced for Remainder of 2009 Events

Pro and Expert Twins Classes Combined at Half Mile Events to Improve Quality of Racing Product

In an effort to streamline the class structure and improve the quality of the racing product, AMA Pro Racing announced today that the Pro Twins and Expert Twins classes will be combined at all AMA Pro Flat Track National Hot Shoe Half Mile events beginning with the Frederick, Md. event to be held on Saturday, July 4th. Three classes will compete for their share of the $10,000.00 purse; Twins, Expert Singles and Pro Singles.

Milestone for Carr at Bulls Gap?

Chris Carr has been working at a dangerous job for 25 years: a professional motorcycle racer. He has been successful, winning the Grand National Championship seven times. If things go as planned, he will make his 200th GNC podium on June 20 at the half-mile race at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn.

LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri is a well known 3/8-mile clay track for Sprint cars, Street Stocks, Modifieds, and Hobby Stocks. Last Saturday night, the track was superbly prepared as a lighting fast motorcycle track for Round 3 of the AMA Pro Flat Track National Hot Shoe Series.

Coolbeth Bounces Back to Take Second in AMA Grand National Twins Opener

Moroney's Harley-Davidson/Screamin' Eagle rider Bryan Smith made a last-lap pass to win the opening round of the 2009 AMA Grand National Twins Championship on the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The defending Grand National Twins champion, Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle factory rider Kenny Coolbeth, finished second, trailing Smith at the finish line by just 0.046 seconds.

Three Harley-Davidson® Wrecking Crew Riders will be Title Contenders

Championships in AMA Pro Grand National flat track motorcycle racing historically run in streaks, and in 2009 it will be Screamin’ Eagle® Harley-Davidson® factory rider Kenny Coolbeth racing to join an elite list of racers with four consecutive Grand National titles. Coolbeth has won the championship each season since joining the Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson team in 2006. If he earns it again in 2009, Coolbeth would join Carroll Resweber (1958-61), Scott Parker (1994-1998) and Chris Carr (2001-2005) as the only riders to win four or more consecutive AMA Pro Grand National championships.

Updated Schedule Adds Major Races and Markets to Both Series

AMA Pro Racing officials unveiled today a revised 2009 schedule for the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship and National Hot Shoe Series. The changes bring together a combined 23-race schedule, including 14 Grand National Championship and nine National Hot Shoe events.

AMA Flat Track racer Kenny Coolbeth nominated for 2008 AMA SPEED Athlete of the Year award

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is proud to announce that newly crowned 2008 AMA Grand National Twins Champion Kenny Coolbeth is one of five nominees for the 2008 AMA SPEED Athlete of the Year award. Team SuperTrapp's Matt Weidman is 2008 AMA Flat Track Rookie of the Year

COOLBETH WINS TO CLINCH THIRD AMA GRAND NATIONAL TITLE

Coolbeth Passes Smith for Sixth Win; Kopp Fails to Qualify for Main

Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle factory rider Kenny Coolbeth clinched his third consecutive AMA Grand National Twins championship with a win on the half-mile track at Monticello Raceway. Coolbeth passed Moroney's Harley-Davidson/Screamin' Eagle rider Bryan Smith on lap 17 of the 25-lap main and led by 2.054-seconds at the finish line to win his sixth race of the season. Because his closest rival for the series title, Latus Harley-Davidson/Screamin’ Eagle rider Joe Kopp, failed to qualify for the main, Coolbeth’s win gives him an insurmountable points lead with two races left on the schedule.

Kawasaki’s Henry Wiles Tallies Third Win of the Year in Springfield

“Kawasaki flat track rider Henry Wiles dominated the last AMA GNC Singles race of the year in Springfield, Ill. with his third win of the season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Wiles led every lap of the main event, coming across the finish 3.5 seconds over second. He finished the season in the runner-up spot, just five points behind first. Wiles also was the man to beat in the Dash for Cash race, earning $1000 for his win.
