Fiat Yamaha head to Indy for second stateside round

This week sees the MotoGP paddock land on US soil for the second time this season for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, at the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Fiat Yamaha Team have already enjoyed success in the States once this season and both Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will be hoping for a top result at the world's largest spectator sporting facility.

Lorenzo blows away rivals with clinical Brno win; Rossi struggles to fifth

Jorge Lorenzo took an impressive seventh win of the season in Brno this afternoon with a clinical performance that saw him lead from the first lap to the chequered flag. In doing so he becomes only the third premier-class rider in history to finish in the top two at the opening ten races of the season. In stark contrast to his Fiat Yamaha team-mate's good fortunes, Valentino Rossi ran into problems from the start and could only finish fifth.

First and third for Lorenzo and Rossi as MotoGP restarts in Brno

Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi started the second half of the season in fine style today, finishing first and third in the first free practice session at Brno. However the team's work was cut a little short when light rain fell at the end of the practice, forcing the riders to sit out the last ten minutes.

Fiat Yamaha get back to business at Brno

After a well-earned two-week summer break, the Fiat Yamaha Team will reform at Brno in the Czech Republic this weekend as the second half of the 18-race MotoGP season gets underway. Jorge Lorenzo lands in eastern Europe as the runaway championship leader and his team-mate Valentino Rossi is hoping to be back to his best after the time off has given him further opportunity to recover from the broken leg and injured shoulder he sustained earlier in the season.

The German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring today provided a thrilling afternoon's racing, with Jorge Lorenzo finishing second and his resurgent Fiat Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi rounding off a remarkable return from injury to finish fourth by a mere whisker. A red flag after nine laps meant the race was restarted, with Dani Pedrosa eventually taking the win after a 21-lap 'second' race.

Jorge Lorenzo extended his pole position run to four consecutive races as he put his M1 at the front of the grid once again today at the Sachsenring. His Fiat Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi continued to impress on his return from injury by qualifying fifth, just 0.578 seconds off Lorenzo.

American Red Bull Rookie Jake Gagne wins on Germany's Sachsenring

Californian Jake Gagne made his presence felt both on Friday and Saturday on Germany's Sachsenring when he took pole position and then won Saturday's Red Bull Rookies Cup race. Gagne's victory on his KTM 125 closed up the gap in the championship standings and puts him in the box seat for the double in Sunday's second race.

Valentino Rossi completes test at Misano

Fiat Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi today rode a motorcycle for the first time since breaking his right leg at Mugello on 5th June. He rode a total of 26 laps at Misano on a YZF-R1 WSB machine, provided by the Yamaha World Superbike Team, and recorded a best time of 1'38.200. Rossi did an initial run of 11 laps at 18.30 CET with a best time of 1'41.000, then a second run of 15 laps at 19.45 CET with a best time of 1'38.200 (unofficial times).

Valentino Rossi test ride in Misano today

Valentino Rossi will ride a Yamaha YZF-R1 at a private test in Misano, Italy this afternoon. The Italian has made an excellent recovery so far since breaking his leg at Mugello on 5th June and he has decided to proceed with the test ride today in order to better understand his current physical condition. Riding a racing motorcycle will help Valentino and his doctors to plan the next stage of his rehabilitation programme in order that he may return to racing as soon as he feels confident to do so.
