Hill takes third successive podium in San Francisco

LandM San Manuel Yamaha were down to single rider representation at the ATandT Park in San Francisco for the fourth round of seventeen in the AMA Supercross/FIM World Championship series as Josh Hill captured his third podium result in a row with second position. Hill was left to steer the 2010 YZ450F after team-mate and defending champion James Stewart required surgery on a broken scaphoid in his right wrist and will now assess his recovery and fitness on a weekly basis.

Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Chad Reed underwent successful surgery to repair his broken left hand in California. Reed is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks recovering from the injury that occurred on Saturday night at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Jake Weimer won for the second straight week in the supercross lites class, this time in dramatic fashion as he took the lead with just a little more than one lap to go at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. His teammate Josh Hansen rocketed out to the main event holeshot, but crashed in the second corner. After a stop in the mechanics area, Hansen rejoined the race and finished 20th. In the supercross class, Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Ryan Villopoto won his heat race and returned to the podium in the main event where he finished second, while Chad Reed crashed early injuring his left hand and finished 19th.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Jake Weimer stood on the top step of the podium for the second consecutive year as he dominated the supercross lites class at the season opener in Anaheim, Calif. Weimer's teammate Josh Hansen overcame an early fall to finish eighth. In the supercross class, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto returned from a knee injury to finish fifth, while his new teammate Chad Reed saw his night end early after contact with another rider damaged his bike.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green riders celebrated the holiday weekend with a chart-topping 25 championships and 47 podiums at the 2009 Winter National Olympics in Gainesville, Fla. The riders were faced with both supercross and motocross racing throughout the week, proving their all-around riding ability. Young gun Chase Bell took home five total championships, while veteran riders captured every championship throughout the week in the plus classes.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki had a dominating performance at Thunder Valley Raceway in Lakewood, Colo. as Jake Weimer earned his first career 250 class overall win with his teammate Christophe Pourcel finishing second. Tyla Rattray finished ninth overall. In the 450 class, Canidae/Motosport/Kawasaki's Tommy Hahn earned his first career podium finish while Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ricky Dietrich was seventh overall and Timmy Ferry was 17th.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Hits the Jackpot in Las Vegas

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto earned his second win in three races, pacing the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship season finale at Sam Boyd Stadium. Villopoto's victory came on the heels of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Christophe Pourcel's victory earlier in the evening during the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Supercross Lites Shootout. In all, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team placed all four of its riders in the top six with Jake Weimer finishing fourth, Austin Stroupe fifth and Ryan Morais sixth.

Yamaha rider James Stewart has won the 2009 AMA SX Championship (also an FIM world championship) thanks to third position taken at the seventeenth and last round of the series in front of almost 40,000 spectators at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The 23 year old claimed his second SX title and the sixth of his career while successfully defending Yamaha's crown in the premier class.
