Antron Brown, driver of the Don Schumacher Racing-owned Matco Tools dragster, will visit with students at Glendale Community College just outside of Phoenix on Feb. 22. The former college track star at Mercer (N.J.) Community College will speak to students at Glendale C.C. about education and career choices one day after competing at the 26th annual Arizona Nationals. Brown's 7,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster also will be on display

“Porsche Motorsport Talent” – five young drivers from four countries can be truly proud of this title heading into the 2010 season. From twelve candidates at a talent search held in Vallelunga (Italy), Porsche Motorsport selected the five most promising youngsters. Niall Breen (23, Ireland), Jono Lester (20, New Zealand), Tim Sandtler (22, Germany), Harald Schlegelmilch (22, Latvia) and Ferdinand Stuck (18, Germany) share up to 180,000 Euro as a cash injection into their racing budgets for the international Porsche Mobil1 Supercup or the Carrera Cup Deutschland. With this, Porsche writes yet another chapter in its long-standing and hugely successful junior development programme in motorsport.

Two days before beginning the 2010 NHRA season, 24-time NHRA winner and driver of the Matco Tools dragster Antron Brown will visit with students at Cerritos College. The former college track star at Mercer (N.J.) Community College will speak to students at Cerritos College about education and career choices. Brown's 7,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster also will be on display.

About 50 automotive students from Antelope Valley High School, Lancaster, Calif., will get a lesson in Hot Rod 101 thanks to the veteran racing parts maker Joe Mondello and the California Hot Rod Reunion. Mondello will be the featured lecturer at this year’s education seminar hosted by the Reunion, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, on Fri., Oct. 10.

82 University Teams From Nine Countries Entered
Formula SAE West, an educational competition in the SAE Collegiate Design Series
82 university teams from Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, U.S. and Venezuela come together for the final event in the 2008 SAE Collegiate Design Series, a winner of the National Science Foundation Public Service Award. In Formula SAE competition, students design, build and compete with small formula-style racing cars. The restrictions on the car frame and engine are limited so that the knowledge, creativity and imagination of the team members are challenged.

Mississippi State University Students Win GM and DOE Challenge X 2008 Competition

Mississippi State University, for the second consecutive year, has earned top honors in General Motors (GM) and the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Challenge X student engineering competition. Over the past nine months, the 2008 Challenge X: Crossover to Sustainability competition challenged 17 university teams from the U.S. and Canada to reengineer a Chevrolet Equinox that employs advanced powertrain technologies. The goal is to produce a vehicle that has improved fuel economy and lower emissions, all while maintaining driver comfort and vehicle performance.
