In addition, the popular NHRA Sportsman Spotlights, focusing on NHRA’s member track network, will air on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD as part of the race coverage.

Midwest Off Road Racing Gets Together in Abrams!

The first public meeting of the Midwest Off Road Racing (MORR) group was held this past Sunday in Abrams, Wisconsin. The past three months saw a group of concerned off-road enthusiasts’ band together to improve the “State of Sportsman Off-Road Racing” in the Upper Midwest. In the past six years, the stability of the sport has been considerably shaken due to four different sanctioning bodies/series promoters attempting to guide short-course off-road racing. MORR was created to give the Sportsman racer a voice in their future and by the looks of their early accomplishments, the current sanctioning body, Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, is definitely listening.

Dick Wells, the first editor of National DRAGSTER and a longtime member of the NHRA Board of Directors, died late Monday night from complications after heart surgery last November. He was 75.

DSR to assemble two complete Top Fuel teams to compete at first NHRA member track outside of the USA.

Yas Marina Circuit, the spectacular motor racing circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has partnered with Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), winner of eight NHRA championships and 136 races, to provide two complete Top Fuel dragster teams to be based in Abu Dhabi. The cars will first compete during the inaugural International Drag Racing Festival on March 18th - 20th at Yas Marina Circuit's impressive new drag racing facility. In a separate agreement, Yas Marina Circuit becomes the first NHRA member facility outside of North America.

Track Affiliate Program to Provide Benefits; Usage of NHRA Marks First Affiliate in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates

NHRA announced today the creation of NHRA Worldwide Network, a program that will enable drag racing facilities around the world to conduct events under the NHRA banner. By becoming a part of the NHRA Worldwide Network, a facility will be able to use the specially-designed “Worldwide Drag Racing” NHRA oval for broad promotional purposes and will be able to draw on NHRA’s decades of experience and history.
