Midwest Off Road Racing Gets Together in Abrams!
Midwest Off Road Racing (MORR)
Abrams, WI (January 18, 2010)
The first public meeting of the Midwest Off Road Racing (MORR) group was held this past Sunday in Abrams, Wisconsin. The past three months saw a group of concerned off-road enthusiasts’ band together to improve the “State of Sportsman Off-Road Racing” in the Upper Midwest. In the past six years, the stability of the sport has been considerably shaken due to four different sanctioning bodies/series promoters attempting to guide short-course off-road racing. MORR was created to give the Sportsman racer a voice in their future and by the looks of their early accomplishments, the current sanctioning body, Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, is definitely listening.

Tiremaker seeks to continue ’09 success with teams in off-road and ALMS, plus expanded “eco-racing’ with orange oil-infused tires in the GT3 Challenge and new GTC series
In 2009, Yokohama Tire Corporation had many major motorsports successes, including repeat championships in off-road racing’s SCORE and SNORE series, and a season-long, strong run in ALMS. However, Yokohama’s most newsworthy motorsports accomplishment was to shatter the eco-racing barrier by introducing the orange oil -infused ADVAN® ENV-R1™, the first true environmentally-friendly tire used in a racing series.

The final weekend of off-road racing in the Upper Midwest saw ninety-five Sportsman racers enter the Fall Finale in Weyauwega, Wisconsin. The Waupaca County Fairgrounds with its covered concrete grandstands and a .75 mile harness racing track was an excellent venue to create a stadium style track with all the amenities. The cold temperatures (in the mid 40's) didn't keep the racing from getting hot.

Oberg Has Solid Finish on Saturday Gets Back in the Pinball Machine on Sunday
Oberg Motorsports
Eagle River, WI (August 12, 2009)
Ever wonder what it would be like to have a truck race inside a pin ball machine? Well after the second TORC visit to Bark River, Mike Oberg has a pretty good idea what that race would feel like. Except in the PRO-2WD pinball race, only a few can get an open path to the finish while the majority of the race trucks spend the twelve minutes of racing continually bouncing off each other never really making any headway to the finish.

When you see Dan Vanden Heuvel Sr. you would not know he had major surgery a month ago. Just after the last TORC visit to Bark River, the Flying Dutchman went under the knife to take care of a health issue. The doctors reminded him he could try going back to work in a month or so, but the medical caretakers really didn?t understand how Dan makes a living. Three weeks after the surgery, the familiar red #77 was on the track with Dan behind the wheel.
