The Dart Kart Club once again served as gracious hosts as the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda made their stop at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, June 15th thru 17th for the Elite Karting Grand Nationals.
Over 450 entries were on hand for a weekend of racing where the prestigious WKA Grand National eagle trophy was up for grabs along with a custom embroidered jacket as well as bragging rights for another year. Nate Grindell proved to be absolutely dominant for the second year in a row in the lay-down Yamaha classes at Mid Ohio winning RE Suspension, Inc. Yamaha Medium, Russell Karting Yamaha Heavy, Inline Label Co. Yamaha Sportsman Medium and tsracing.com Yamaha Sportsman Heavy. Jarret Schwarz remained undefeated for the season by winning Freiberg Racing PP Can Sprint 340 and Competition Karting, Inc. PP Can Sprint 360 and also earned an eagle in the Elite Engraving WKA Sprint class. Double winners for the weekend were Mike Stroik in Kirby Derby Briggs Animal 335 and Chryst Brothers Construction Briggs Animal 360. Craig Keller carried home eagles for his wins in MJS Racing 100cc Controlled Spec and KartVideo.com Controlled Limited. Derek Cuthbertson won both in Fischer Racing Formula 125 where he remains undefeated for the season and also won in L.A.D. Specialties Unlimited Final 2. Scott Clark won Freiberg Racing PP Can Sprint 380 and Yamaha Sprint Heavy. The junior classes were swept with Amber Collins winning ARC Racing Briggs Jr Sprint Lite and Briggs Jr Sprint Heavy. Luke Canizales took top honors in Kris Buerman Racing Engines Jr Enduro Lite and Senior Citizen Racing Jr Enduro Heavy and Adam Trumbley won D.R. Guilbeault Air Compressor Jr Sprint Lite and Dart Kart Club Jr Sprint Heavy. Double winners in the DKC local option classes were Jerry Echols in 250 Twin 1 and 2 and Bryan Rothenhoefer in Stock Honda 1 and 2.
