WKA 2006 Hall Of Fame Inductees

Each year WKA has the pleasure of inducting individuals into the WKA Hall of Fame who have had a great influence on the sport of karting. Allow us to introduce you to the 2006 WKA Hall of Fame inductees.

At Kartfest in Hickory, NC, Robin Bradshaw was inducted into the WKA Hall of Fame. Robin began his racing career in the 1970’s. Graduating to the WKA Horstman Gold Cup Series, Robin soon became a legend winning many national championships. Later in his career he became one of the most successful 4-cycle engine builders in the history of the sport. Robin also became a crew chief and mentor to several top WKA drivers. Robin now works at Richard Childress Racing in the carburetor department for the Busch program. It hasn’t taken long for Robin to get the hang of it. Kevin Harvick won the first race of the season at Daytona. Randy Fulks was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Road Race Banquet in Savannah, Georgia in February. Randy began his racing career in the late 1960’s. Starting in sprints he soon became one of the top drivers in both IKF and WKA. As the years went on Randy found his niche in the Road Racing Series. Truly Randy has become a legend winning multiple national championships. Randy also had the honor of joining his Father Reggie into the Hall of Fame. At the Manufacturer’s Cup Event in Jacksonville, Florida Kyle Adkins was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Kyle began his racing career in the 1960’s. He quickly became a national contender along with his brother Tony. Many IKF and WKA national championships make up Kyle’s winning career. Not only did Kyle make his mark as a driver but Kyle has become one of the top engine builders in the country as well. When you see the Adkins Speed Center sticker on the motor there is a good chance that driver will find his way to the front. Without question one of Kyle’s proudest moments happened during last season as his son Brandon proved he is a “chip off the old block” by winning the prestigious WKA Triple Crown Award. In one of the most memorable Hall of Fame presentations in history nine current Hall of Fame members joined hundreds of racers at Kershaw to honor the latest inductee Rosie Howell. Dan Klutz, Johnny Jacumin, Van Gilder, Junior Neal, Lake Speed, Randy Fulks, Bil Spaude, and Buck Keen were all there to share the memorable moment with their newest member. Rosie actively raced karts for many years in the 70’s and 80’s. In the 1980’s Rosie took on more of an official’s role at the Road Races being Race Director at some of WKA’s most prestigious events. Rosie also served as assistant to WKA President George Kugler along with serving on the WKA Board of Trustees. The Ann Kugler Award was also presented at Kershaw. This award is presented to a woman who best exemplifies the commitment and dedication to karting that the former wife of late WKA President George Kugler did. This year’s recipient has been a supporter of karting for many years. Cookie Jacumin, wife of Johnny Jacumin has spent the last thirty+ years alongside her husband helping him in his racing career as well as race promotions. You will find Cookie in the midst of the race operations on any given weekend. Cookie truly represents the key role women play in our sport - commitment, dedication, and loyalty.
