In 2005, WKA added the TAG (Touch and Go) class to the Manufacturer’s Cup Series and approved ten engines for competition in the 2005 through 2007 seasons. Now WKA is inviting manufacturers, distributors, and importers of TaG engines to submit new TaG engines or new parts for existing engines for the 2008 through 2010 competition years.
To be eligible for approval, new engines must fit within the same performance envelop as the current engines. They must have a maximum displacement of 125 cc and an integral starter. They may be air or water-cooled, and they must include a pipe, carburetor, clutch, and air box. For detailed specifications, see 2007 WKA Tech Manual, Section 608. In addition, the engine manufacturer must certify the name of the U.S. importer or distributor. The importer or distributor must have a U.S. business location and been in business for two years. The importer or distributor must submit a complete engine package to WKA headquarters by May 1, 2007. The package must include an inspection fee and federal taxpayer and sales tax ID numbers. In addition, they must include complete engine package specifications, drawings, pictures and any other related data. WKA will advise the submitting organization as to its acceptance or rejection by July 1, 2007. For all engines, the distributor or importer must then demonstrate that there are at least 25 engines in the United States by August 15, 2007. If accepted, the engine will be legal for competition beginning December 26, 2007. Contact WKA headquarters for the inspection fee schedule, shipping address, and other information at 704.455.1606. Importers and distributors wishing to submit a new or modified engine part to an approved engine must submit the part and an inspection fee to the WKA headquarters by April 1, 2007. WKA will inspect the part and advise the submitting organization as to its acceptance or rejection by June 1, 2007. WKA will establish a minimum quantity of the part and will complete a count of the available parts by August 15. If accepted, the part will be legal for competition December 26, 2007. Contact WKA headquarters for inspection fee schedule, shipping address, and other information at 704.455.1606.
