WKA Partners With Kids Racing For Kids

Kids Racing for Kids and the World Karting Association have developed a partnership for the 2008 George Kugler/Bridgestone Manufacturer’s Cup Series driven by Mazda to help promote karting while giving back to children in need. A total of $20,000 will be donated to children’s shelters during the 2008 racing season thanks to Kids Racing for Kids.

Child abuse is reported an average of every 10 seconds and sadly three children every day die as a result from such abuse. Shelters that help these abused children in the U.S. are always in need of donations to help fund their facilities. The best way to help stop abuse is to bring attention to the problem. KRFK is planning to give shelters the donations and exposure they so desperately need. “We are very excited about the alignment of Kids Racing for Kids with WKA,” said Tim Self, President of KRFK. “We believe this is a great opportunity to instill charitable values in today’s young drivers while bringing much needed attention to the plight of severely abused kids. The WKA membership is made up of great people with solid family values that I am sure will embrace this cause while the breadth of the WKA Brand will do so much to propagate our mission of providing financial support directly to the abused children shelters. On behalf of the entire KRFK staff and the kids we help, we would like to express sincerest gratitude to Randy and all of the folks associated with WKA for their compassion and support.” During the first race weekend of December 28th in Daytona, four junior-class winners will have a $1,000 donation placed in their name by Kids Racing for Kids. The donations from Daytona will be presented to a local children’s shelter in Charlotte, N.C. during the February 29th race weekend. Each Junior driver will be asked to be a part of the presentation to the Children’s Home the week leading up to the event. This plan will remain in place for the balance of the season. Four Junior winners in Charlotte will be part of a presentation leading up to Race #3 in Dousman, WI and so on. During the 2008 racing season donations will also be accepted at each Manufacturer’s Cup event. “One of the core values of the WKA is caring. Kids Racing for Kids is a win, win program that teaches the value of caring to our young drivers. Not only will our racers benefit for this experience, but the recipients, children suffering abuse, will win too,” said Todd Shaw of WKA and On Track Ministries, who will actively be apart of the KRFK and WKA partnership. “One of the best ways to raise young leaders is to lead them in a rewarding activity that will build character into their lives. Kids Racing for Kids will build leaders and help those who desperately need a helping hand.” “This effort by Tim Self and the Kids Racing for Kids program is one of the warmest humanitarian acts I have ever seen in karting. WKA supports the program 100% and is honored to provide the venue to accomplish it,” said WKA President Randy Kugler. About Kids Racing for Kids Founded by Tim Self of Applied Mechanical in 2005, the mission statement of KRFK is to help abused children across the U.S. while instilling charitable values in young racers.
