PHILSINC.com Evanston, IL (September 12, 2008) Krieman & Heynen Super Buggy Run Solid – Taylor Wins BorgWarner! The Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing has completed the 2008 season and two PHILSINC.com sponsored drivers have won their respective championships. Eric “Rupe†Ruppel, from Chetek, Wisconsin, drove his #837 PHILSINC.com Art Carr Transmission AMSOIL BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 to the SRT Stock Truck Championship, and Mark “Steiny†Steinhardt and his #331 PHILSINC.com BFGoodrich Tires VW powered Buggy brought home the SRT Single Buggy Championship home to Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
Eric Ruppel during the 2008 season, finished on the podium in ten of the twelve rounds of racing, including four wins, four runner-up spots, and two third place finishes. Early in the season, Ruppel found his team back in fourth place, but strong runs in the last half of the season, earned the championship for the #837 Ford – F-150. Mark Steinhardt, the always competitive veteran, had nine podium finishes, including five wins, and four second place finishes. Steinhardt battled with the 2007 1600 Buggy Champion, Mike Seefeldt, all year long; as the title was not determined until the final checkered flag was waved. Both of these WSORR Champion racers know the hard work that’s needed to finish on top of the podium, as much, if not all the prep work on their race vehicles, is done on their own. Rupe and Steiny are true independent racers and true champions. Other PHILSINC.com supported off-road racers include WSORR PRO Super Buggy driver, Stephanie Krieman, from Oregon. The transplanted Illinois resident, in her #918 PHILSINC.com Krieman Construction Bertils Goodyear Attig built VW powered Super Buggy, finished the PRO Super Buggy Championship in fourth place. Stephanie’s consistency paid off in 2008, as she took the checkered flag at all twelve rounds of racing. For the year, Steph finished in the Top-5 six times, including a career best third place finish in Round X. At the time, this was the highest finishing woman ever in a PRO Short Course Off-Road Racing event. (Rhonda Konitzer finished second in PRO-2, later that afternoon) Another PHILSINC.com racer, Corry Heynen, from Ontario, Canada had a strong finish to the year, with a second place finish in Round XI and a win in Round XII. The hi-tech Super Buggy had mechanical problems much of the year, but really put the package together at the final weekend in Crandon. The final race of the year at “the Big House,†was the BorgWarner Off-Road Shootout. This ten lap showdown race pits the fastest full size two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive trucks against one another for the $125,000 BorgWarner Cup. This year, Scott Taylor in his PRO-2WD #8 Skyjacker Suspensions BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 took the win, for the second time in his career. In fact he has been the only two-wheel drive winner in the event’s history. PHILSINC.com is proud to be an associate sponsor of Taylor Racing. You can watch Scott Taylor complete in the CORR series, live on SPEED Channel this Saturday evening, September 13, 5:30-7:30pm eastern time, and Sunday afternoon, September 14, on NBC, 1:30pm -3:00pm eastern time.
