World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) CRANDON, Wisc., (July 9, 2008) Traxxas® has been named the “Official Radio Controlled Car†of the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) for the 2008 season. Based in Plano, Texas, Traxxas manufactures award-winning radio-controlled cars, trucks, and boats and is the leading brand in the radio-controlled car industry. “We’re excited to be part of WSORR. Our radio-controlled trucks are all about the speed, power, and excitement of off-road racing,†says Traxxas president Mike Jenkins. The agreement is a multi-faceted sponsorship package providing Traxxas with high-visibility coverage on the World Series SPEED television programs, among others, and at all WSORR events including a “Traxxas Try-Me-Track†that allows fans to get behind the wheel of Traxxas Slash radio controlled trucks for a taste of short course racing -- World Series style.
Traxxas also brings a new race team to the World Series that includes the Traxxas and BF Goodrich sponsored PRO 4x4 and PRO 2WD trucks driven by Mike and Mark Jenkins respectively. The Traxxas Slash is a radio controlled short course race truck modeled after the full-size #25 Traxxas PRO 2WD truck. Traxxas is also a major sponsor of the PRO Light Pickup of Jeff Kincaid. Kincaid is a five-time short course champion in the class and is currently undefeated through the first four rounds of WSORR competition in his Traxxas Potawatomi BFG Toyota. “Not only are fans going to see the Traxxas name, products and try-me-tracks at all WSORR events, but they had better get used to seeing the Traxxas name in victory circle,†said Doug Davis, general manager, WSORR. “They bring two new state-of-the-art PRO race trucks to our Series. At the recent Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races, the Jenkins brothers made an immediate impact with Mike capturing two podium finishes in his first look at Crandon Raceway which is quite an achievement,†he added. “Of course, with Jeff Kincaid also running the Traxxas colors, they are a favorite in the PRO Light Pickup class every time he takes the green flag,†Davis commented. Traxxas produces radio controlled (R/C) models for all skill levels from beginners to experts. Traxxas manufactures hobby class radio controlled models such as the Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 supercar that will accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 3.1 seconds with top speeds in excess of 70 MPH. They introduced the best-selling T-Maxx R/C monster truck in 1999 which reshaped the industry and today the T-Maxx remains the number one selling monster truck of all time. The new Traxxas Slash short course truck is now available in local hobby stores nationwide. All Traxxas models come fully assembled and Ready-To–Race®.
